Welcome to the Home of the Dayton Aqua Gems
Our mission is to promote the sport of synchronized swimming by teaching our athletes the technical skills of the sport, building their personal character through team work and self-discipline, as well as enhancing their self-esteem and confidence.
We offer programs for swimmers ages 6 to 18 year-round with a competitive program and are looking to expand into a recreational program as well. For our competitive program, girls are grouped into teams based on their age and swimming ability to compete at meets throughout the season. Competition begins at the novice level and proceeds to swimmers who compete at national meets.
The Aqua Gems generally swim from September to June. We compete in meets locally, regionally, and nationally. Practices are at the Coffman YMCA in Springboro, OH and the Downtown YMCA in Dayton, OH.
We are a non-profit organization founded in 2008 as an extension of the Master’s synchronized swimming program, The Dayton Synchronettes, and the former Age Group program, The Dayton Aquanymphs. We are a member of USA Synchronized Swimming and follow all of their rules and regulations. Each swimmer is a member of USA Synchronized Swimming which entitles them to enter sanctioned competitions and receive insurance coverage at these events.
Swimmers can swim in a team routine consisting of four to eight swimmers, or a combo team routine consisting of four to ten swimmers, as long as there are enough swimmers within the age group or skill set. Swimmers may also be assigned to small routines consisting of one or two swimmers (solo or duet).
